Ироническое название скандала, потрясшего мир бейсбола [baseball] в 1919-20 и приведшего к радикальной реорганизации его управленческих структур. Скандал разразился, когда игрок "Чикаго уайт сокс" [Chicago White Sox] Э. Чикотти [Cicotte, Edward] признался в том, что получил взятку за то, чтобы повлиять на результаты чемпионата "Уорлд сириз" [World Series] 1919. Он назвал также 7 других игроков команды, получивших взятки. Все восемь игроков были отстранены от игры на сезон
